The Press On Fund is pleased to announce our continuing support of research being conducted by Dr. Theodore Johnson and Dr. David Munn at the Medical College of Georgia and the Georgia Cancer Center. These pediatric oncologists are currently leading an investigation into the efficacy of a new drug that shows promise in inhibiting an enzyme that some forms of pediatric cancer use to shield themselves from the body’s natural immune response. The hope is that this medication will allow for lower doses of chemotherapy and radiation while improving both the quality of life and the survival rate of children with brain tumors.

This clinical trial will also provide frontline treatment for a handful of children who have recently been diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a particularly aggressive form of pediatric cancer that is currently considered non-curative. It is the hope of the study’s lead researchers that this medication will vastly improve the quality of life and improve the prognosis for these children.

The Press On Fund has promised $1 million in funding over the next four years for this important trial.

ABOUT PRESS ON

The Press On Fund was formed in 2006 by Watkins, Lourie, Roll & Chance attorney Stephen Chance and his wife, Erin following their son, Patrick’s, stage IV Neuroblastoma diagnosis. It is the mission of the fund to:

“…IDENTIFY feasible and groundbreaking alternative therapies for childhood cancers and to INVEST monies raised in a manner that supports the science and infrastructure needed to CURE childhood cancer within our lifetime.”

Press On seeks out researchers leading investigations into less toxic, novel, and experimental approaches to treating pediatric cancer. We believe that this disease is curable and will continue to provide support for those leading the charge against it.

All of the donations made to Press On go directly to funding research. The fund maintains an operational surplus at all times to guarantee that donations are not squandered on office and administrative costs. Press On and the families who maintain the organization are entirely devoted to curing childhood cancer.
