Transcript: We see a wide variety of examples of nursing home abuse in our practice. Certain fact patterns tend to recur. We see pressure sores combined with dehydration and malnourishment, and infection too much.
Other types of medical cases that arise in the nursing home setting are repeated falls. Once our loved ones are in these nursing homes, there’s not one-to-one care, but there should be close supervision. Oftentimes that supervision is provided by call lights, for example. Or rounding on the residents every two hours. Too often, that does not occur.
Many times, residents of nursing homes will try to get to the bathroom to preserve their own dignity and they fall. We see that an awful lot.
Other types of cases that we handle involve intentional physical, even sexual abuse of nursing home residents.
